“I was way too close to losing my life”

-Ally Page

Spring Break Gone Wrong

Hello, My name is Ally Page, and I am a Co-Founder of SOLIS. I am here to tell you about how contaminated water ruined my spring break.

It all started when my family and I were in Mexico for our week long break. On the third day, after a delicious dinner, I began to feel a sharp pain in my side. My family encouraged me to rest and assured me that I would feel better. A few days later I went from what we thought was a stomach ache to intense pain and fatigue. My dad and I flew back to the United States, and I was immediately taken to the hospital. I was in the Intensive Care Unit for a week and went into complete kidney failure and almost lost my life. I ended up staying in the hospital for a month. After multiple procedures and going on dialysis, I finally recovered.

Dirty drinking water in Mexico shut down my kidneys and almost took my life.

Whether your on the go, or staying at home, finding clean water can be a challenge.

We wanted to fix that… So we did

Lake Forest High School Business Incubator

We started small with a whole year of classroom brainstorm sessions. We established our technology and our market.

Lake Forest High School Pitch Night

From there, we voiced our idea to the world at LFHS Pitch Night. We received Best Pitch of the Night Award and $4,500 from local investors.

Fresh Start Business Incubator Networking Event

Then, we grew to community pitch events where we continued to receive funding from investors. We raised a total of $16,000 in our first round of investment.

One of our crowning achievements this year was being selected as a finalist for the SXSW EDU student startup competition.
